Get ready for a little mystery, camping, ghosts and s’mores! Carol will be signing copies of her books and bringing along fun activities for young readers, including S’more kits and camping-themed coloring pages.
September is Craniofacial Acceptance Month, a time dedicated to increasing awareness, acceptance and understanding of people with facial differences. Carol’s character, Rowley, has a bilateral cleft. But it’s simply one part of who she is. She is also curious, brave, determined, and ready to solve a camping mystery!

Rowley Peters and the Lumberjack Ghost follows Rowley on a camping adventure where a mysterious ghost, a friendship in trouble, and a curious mystery send her on a quest to figure out what’s really going on. The book is a wonderful fit for middle-grade readers, families and homeschoolers. The publisher, Chicken Scratch Books, even offers an accompanying Explore Course for families and groups.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Carol L. Paur is a Wisconsin author, speaker, writing mentor and advocate whose love of storytelling began when she was young. She holds an MA in Communication and has worked as a freelance writer for newspapers and magazines, written and produced children’s plays, and worked as a screenwriter. Her books span several genres, including middle-grade mystery and fantasy and young adult mystery. She is the author of Rowley Peters and the Lumberjack Ghost, Early Summer, and Isasnora Snores, among other works. Carol is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Wisconsin Writers Association, and Sisters in Crime.
Carol is also a passionate advocate for people with cleft lips and palates, having been born with a cleft palate herself. Her personal experience helped inspire Rowley Peters, a young heroine with a cleft palate who learns to advocate for herself while navigating friendship, mystery and adventure. When she isn't writing, Carol enjoys photography, spending time with her husband and daughters, and keeping up with her dogs.
